Entry 14 - Radha S

According to Sanathana Dharma and Hindu Scriptures, the clay idols of Lord Ganesha needs to be immersed after praying for certain period. Old clay or soil from ponds, lakes, tanks and other water bodies is used to make the Ganesha Idol and immersed back in the same one during rainy season to reserve fresh water. The idols are immersed after performing pooja with natural herbs and turmeric which help in protecting the environment and also water species like fish, tortoise to grow well. Courtesy:Hindupad.com

However, as I could not get the clay from the local lake, I have used Rice flour and Wheat flour which are also part of the nature and eco-friendly. This approach also has the advantage of mixing the idol in the water easier than clay.

Ingredients used:
1. Rice flour: 2 cups.
2. Wheat flour: 1/2 cup.
3. water: enough to make thick dough.
4. Different type of Bindis: to decorate.

Note: To make a colorful Ganesha, we can use food colours as required.
